How Artificial Intelligence Is Impacting Our Daily Lives?
When we think of artificial intelligence (AI), what comes to our mind?
Like every other person, you would probably think of robots walking around us, looking like us, operated by joysticks, taking care of your small wishes and make you feel protected or guarded. Do you feel vaguely uncomfortable with the idea?
For this, you can blame the movies and also be thankful to make us think, what the future could be.
We’ve all heard the term, but what exactly is artificial intelligence (or AI)?
AI is the concept of non-human entities possessing human-level intelligence and performing intelligent tasks. However, the version of AI we’re most familiar with today is that of computers performing tasks that normally require human intelligence or intervention.
We may not be aware of it, but AI is already an integral part of our daily life, even in the product choices that Amazon offers us that complete works on AI algorithms and recommendation engine. Few of us understand it.
According to one of the survey only 34% of people who used AI know that they did.
Almost, everywhere we are using Artificial intelligence more likely at home, office – when managing your business, and when interacting with the world. Why is this so? Well, it simply is because everyone enjoys the effectiveness and simplicity that it brings.
Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Virtual Personal Assistant
Several advanced digital personal assistants are available for specific platforms like as Siri for iOS, Google Now for Android, and Cortana for Windows machine. They are fully advance and hi-tech.
It works to find useful information for you by following your voice; suppose “Nearby visiting places?”, “What’s on my schedule today?”, “Remind me to call Alex at seven o’clock,” and the assistant will respond by finding information, relaying information from your phone, or sending commands to other apps.
Microsoft says that Cortana “continually learns about its user” and that it will eventually develop the ability to anticipate users’ needs. It processes the huge amount of data from the variety of sources.
Probably you haven’t seen someone sleeping or reading books while driving, but the Google’s self-driving cars are moving closer and closer to reality; Google’s self-driving car project and Tesla’s “autopilot” feature are two examples that have been in the news lately. Earlier this year, the Washington Post reported on an algorithm developed by Google that could potentially let self-driving cars learn to drive in the same way that humans do: through experience.
The Chinese philosopher Laozi claimed, “The best soldier fights without vengeance, without anger, and without hate.” Might robots one day replace human soldiers on the battlefield?

Purchase Prediction and Recommendation:
The e-commerce giants like Target and Amazon stand to make a lot of money if they can anticipate your needs. Amazon’s anticipatory shipping project hopes to send your items before you need them, completely obviating the need for a last-minute trip to the online store. The Netflix movie recommendation engine, which recommends you the movies based on your past activities.
Have you ever gotten an email or a letter asking you if you made a specific purchase on your credit card? Many banks send these types of communications if they think there’s a chance that fraud may have been committed on your account, and want to make sure that you are aware and approve the purchase before processing the transaction request. Artificial intelligence is often the technology deployed to monitor for this type of fraud.
Convergence of Big Data and AI:
The convergence of big data with AI has now become the most important technology which is shaping and flourishing the future of how firms drive business value from their data and analytics capabilities. The availability of greater volumes and sources of data has been increased. For the first time, enabling capabilities in AI and machine learning that remained dormant for decades due to several reasons like lack of data availability, limited sample sizes, and an inability to analyze massive amounts of data in milliseconds. Digital capabilities have moved data from batch to real-time, on-line, always-available access.
Although, the AI technologies have been known for several decades, only due to the availability of an excessive source of data now they are coming into the picture. It is now able to take advantage of data sets of sufficient size to provide faster processing, meaningful learnings, and results. The ability to access a massive amount of data with quick and ready access is leading to a rapid evolution in the application of AI and machine-learning applications. Whereas the researchers and statisticians were often limited to working with “sample data sets”, big data has enabled data ,scientists to access and work with massive sets of live or dynamic data without restriction.
Artificial Intelligence in the Future: Impact of and Prospects for AI:
As Eliezer Yudkowsky of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute stated that, “Artificial Intelligence has not settled science; it belongs to the frontier, not to the Textbook.” The possibilities for AI are seemingly endless, and so is the investment. Gil Press of Forbes quotes a 2016 Forrester Research report predicting a 300% increase in investment in AI technologies from 2016 to 2017.
So, what will be artificial intelligence in the future look like? AI will most certainly increase its presence and dependability in our daily lives as it revolutionizes the workplace. Predictable tasks and the management of big data will more and more commonly be handed over to bots. However, Nanette Byrnes of MIT Technology Review writes that “despite fears that AI will lead to the widespread replacement of workers, human judgment and feedback remain integral to improving machine-learning systems.”
In the future, businesses and consumer practices will integrate with AI. A 2016 Accenture report on the future of AI predicts that these technologies will, in fact, increase labour productivity by upwards of 30% in a host of developed economies.
Benefitting from the positive impact of AI will mean staying in tune with the benefits and opportunities it offers and integrating them into business models. A good place to start is applying AI to your Customer Relationship Management (CRM). The future of successful business will require professionals who are well-educated about AI technology and open to creative solutions and harmonious cooperation between human beings and machines. Stay on top of technological developments and solutions of AI in business and life to remain competitive going forward.
Clearly, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an incredibly powerful technology. In the coming years, it promises to help solve some of our most pressing and day to day life problems, as well as open up whole new worlds of opportunity.
“In future, Maybe the only significant difference between a really smart simulation and a human being was the noise they made when you punched them.” – Terry Pratchett
